Agency staff teach more than 100 classroom sessions over two days on air and water permitting, oil and gas, industrial and solid waste, compliance and enforcement, and remediation, while more than 300 exhibitors fill the hall with the consulting, laboratory, monitoring and waste services that compliance work runs on.
The audience is environmental managers at plants, refineries, utilities and cities, the consultants who prepare their filings, and licensed water, wastewater, landfill and storage-tank operators who come for their continuing education hours. Professional engineers and geoscientists count the sessions toward their own hours.
TCEQ has run the fair for more than 30 years. It spent most of that time at the Austin Convention Center and moved to the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio in 2025, where it is scheduled through 2028.

Few events put a Texas facility this close to its regulator. At Texas Water the program belongs to the state's water and wastewater utilities, and the floor leans toward pipe, pumps and treatment equipment, so it is the better trip for a utility engineer buying plant hardware. RuralWaterCon plays the same role for small rural systems and their operators.
The national meetings go deeper on a single medium. WEFTEC shows the full range of water treatment technology from around the world, and the A&WMA Annual Conference is where air quality specialists present technical papers to their peers.
The TCEQ fair covers air, water and waste in one place, limited to Texas rules and taught by the staff who review the permits. For a plant manager responsible for several permit programs, or a consultant whose clients all file with TCEQ, it covers the coming year's regulatory changes in two days, and its hall brings the state's environmental consultancies, labs and waste firms into one room.
The right two days for anyone in Texas who holds, writes or services a TCEQ permit and wants the agency's own staff to explain what changes next.
Who exhibits
The hall is built around compliance work. National consultancies such as Trinity Consultants, Burns & McDonnell, Tetra Tech and Montrose Environmental Group stand beside Texas engineering firms, and laboratories including Eurofins, Pace and SGS North America also teach sessions. Waste companies like Clean Harbors and Republic Services, instrument makers such as Thermo Fisher Scientific and Agilent, and public bodies including the Texas Water Development Board and the Edwards Aquifer Authority complete a floor where almost every booth sells something a regulated facility buys.

TCEQ Environmental Trade Fair & Conference 2027
The 2027 fair returns to the Henry B. González Convention Center in May, its third year in San Antonio. TCEQ posts attendee registration, booth sales and hotel room blocks in the fall.
Last year's program added a track on environmental quality along the Texas-Mexico border, with officials from Mexican federal and state agencies and the North American Development Bank, and hands-on sessions for the new aboveground storage vessel safety program.
- Exhibitor receptions are held at River Walk hotels in the evening, after classroom and hall hours, because TCEQ keeps hospitality out of the convention center. Ask the firms you work with where they are hosting.
- Classrooms admit full conference registrants only, and license credit is recorded by scanning the QR code shown at the end of each approved session, so buy the full registration if you need hours.
- The hall closes early on the second afternoon and all coffee breaks are served on the floor, so the breaks on the first day are the best time for booth conversations.
- Full registrants receive the attendee and exhibitor lists, without email addresses. TCEQ publishes them nowhere else, which makes them the only way to see in advance who will be in the hall.
Exhibiting
Space is sold as standard 10 by 10 foot booths with pipe and drape, and larger exhibitors combine several. Sales open in the fall in phases by phone, with companies taking six or more booths choosing first, followed by an online release, and TCEQ keeps a wait list once the hall sells out. The booth and its staff carry the whole presence, because the fair runs on registration fees alone. It pays off for consultancies, labs and service firms whose clients file with TCEQ.
