How it compares

Texas dental teams have three society meetings with exhibit halls, and the choice mostly comes down to geography and reach. The Southwest Dental Conference, run by the Dallas County Dental Society each August at the Hilton Anatole, is the natural meeting for North Texas practices. Star of the South Dental Meeting, the Greater Houston Dental Society's September conference, has moved to a compact format with a limited number of booths, which suits a supplier that wants focused time with Houston-area offices.

The TDA Meeting is the statewide option. It is the association's own meeting, it carries the House of Delegates, and it gives exhibitors two full days on the floor in May, a few months ahead of the Dallas and Houston dates. A company that can only do one Texas meeting reaches the widest spread of practices here.

Outside Texas, CDA Presents in Anaheim opens on the same day in 2027, so national manufacturers split their field teams that week. The Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting in winter and the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting in March remain the national and Southeast stops; companies whose sales depend on Texas practices, Texas Medicaid dental plans or Texas lenders get more from San Antonio.

Who exhibits

The hall mixes clinical suppliers with companies that serve the practice as a business. Ultradent Products, Glidewell Dental, Shofu Dental Corporation, Vatech America and Brasseler USA share the floor with dental benefit carriers such as DentaQuest, MCNA Dental and the Texas Medicaid Healthcare Partnership, and with banks, practice transition firms and office builders. The association's member-discount partners sit together on the TDA Perks aisle, which makes insurance, finance and compliance services easy to compare.

TDA Meeting 2027

This year's meeting keeps the familiar shape: education across three days, the exhibit hall on the first two, and the House of Delegates on the last two. The Thursday hall party becomes Studio TDA, a 1970s disco night on the show floor sponsored by TDA Perks, and on Friday Kendra Scott runs a shopping event that benefits the TDA Smiles Foundation.

• Saturday is education only. Anyone coming for the exhibits needs to be in San Antonio on Thursday or Friday.
• Stay for the Thursday late-afternoon party in the exhibit hall. More than 1,000 people attend, and it is the easiest time to talk with reps away from the daytime crowd.
• Exhibitors may sell directly on the floor, so practices planning a purchase can use show specials on the spot.
• Bring the office manager and front-desk staff: the TDA Perks aisle groups the association's insurance, finance, compliance and supply partners in one place.

Exhibiting

Booths are sold through MCI USA in inline, corner and island formats, and include five badges, drape, a sign, the TDA Party and listings on the website and app. Flooring is required and, like furniture, utilities and lead retrieval, is ordered separately through Freeman or the registration company. Sponsorships are open only to exhibitors. A stand pays off best for companies whose buyers include the whole practice team, since assistants, hygienists and office staff outnumber dentists in the hall.
