Its roots are the Electric & Hybrid Marine and Autonomous Ship events. The combined program now connects batteries, fuel cells and onboard power systems with remote operations, port infrastructure and the commercial decisions behind deployment.
The move to Barcelona places that technical community beside a major Mediterranean port. Shipyards and system integrators remain central, but the conference also addresses terminal operators, utilities, classification societies and investors. A vessel electrification project can therefore be examined from both sides of the quay: the machinery on board and the energy supply ashore. The show is most useful when those engineering and commercial questions need to be resolved together.
How it compares
- This show: Advanced Maritime Technology ExpoMontjuïc
- SMMHamburg, every two years
- EuroportRotterdam, every two years
SMM in Hamburg is the broader procurement trip. Its 2026 show brought together 2,300 exhibitors and 50,000 trade visitors, covering a much wider maritime supply chain. A shipyard comparing complete equipment packages, or a supplier pursuing several vessel markets, gains access to that breadth. Advanced Maritime Technology makes a more concentrated trip for propulsion integration, vessel automation and the supporting shore infrastructure.
Europort in Rotterdam centers on specialized vessels and complex shipbuilding. With 1,100 exhibitors and 23,113 professionals in 2025, it brings a substantial equipment market into the Dutch maritime cluster. It suits buyers whose decarbonization work sits inside a wider vessel specification, including the operational demands of high-tech ships. Its November position also offers a different planning window from Barcelona’s June gathering.
Barcelona’s distinction is the way the conference joins electrification and autonomy to grid capacity, regulatory obligations and funding. That is a useful combination for a ferry operator weighing a conversion, a port developing charging capacity or an integrator coordinating both. SMM and Europort remain strong choices for broader supplier coverage; this show gives the transition technologies and their deployment constraints more sustained attention.
The right trip for vessel and port teams who need propulsion, automation, shore infrastructure and investment decisions to work together.
Who exhibits
The 2026 mix connected established marine suppliers with battery and charging specialists. ABB, Volvo Penta and SEAM appeared alongside EVE Energy, WATTALPS and Cavotec. Maritime Battery Forum and CharIN brought the standards and interoperability discussion onto the floor. This is an equipment and integration community: its value lies in the relationships between power generation, storage, propulsion and the shore connection.

Advanced Maritime Technology Expo 2027
The 2027 move to Barcelona follows a decade in Amsterdam and brings a sharper connection to port energy infrastructure. The conference unifies the Electric & Hybrid Marine and Autonomous Ship heritage in four streams: electrification and hybridization, automation and autonomy, infrastructure, and regulation and finance. Ports, utilities and investors join the technical discussion alongside vessel operators and suppliers. The program places deployment questions, from grid capacity to project funding, beside the onboard engineering work.
- Pair propulsion discussions with the Infrastructure stream: vessel charging and port grid capacity need to be designed together.
- For remote operations projects, combine the Autonomy & Automation stream with Regulation, Business & Finance to cover liability and investment alongside the control systems.
