Family Medicine Forum - FMF 2026

Family Medicine Forum brings Canada's family physicians into the same room as the educators, researchers, health organizations and employers who shape their work.

Last year's Winnipeg conference registered 3,011 attendees, and family physicians made up 79% of the audience. Residents and medical students attend alongside practicing doctors, giving the meeting a role in recruitment and training as well as continuing education.

The College of Family Physicians of Canada organizes FMF around clinical practice, teaching, research and advocacy. College Square connects attendees with provincial Chapters, academic family medicine and continuing professional development services. The exhibit hall holds food, lounges and dedicated breaks after keynotes, so its conversations sit within the educational program. With the conference rotating among Canadian cities, FMF gives organizations a national family-medicine setting while retaining the local relationships of each host region.

How it compares

  1. Pri-Med CanadaToronto, 3,400
  2. This show: Family Medicine Forum - FMFToronto, 2,000

For a Canadian primary-care trip focused on clinical updates, Pri-Med Canada offers evidence-based education alongside a trade show at Toronto's International Centre. Its spring position makes it a different point in the planning year from FMF's fall gathering. Pri-Med fits a visit organized around treatment knowledge and healthcare products; FMF adds the CFPC's chapters, academic networks, research presentations and national recognition ceremonies to those clinical conversations.

AAFP Family Medicine Experience (FMX) is the corresponding association gathering for the US family-medicine community. Its education, hands-on workshops and expo connect doctors with the American Academy of Family Physicians and US practice suppliers. It is the more direct choice for a company developing American practice relationships or a physician seeking that professional network. FMF serves a different system of certification, training and healthcare recruitment.

FMF earns its place when the trip needs to reach beyond a product demonstration or clinical update. A recruiter can meet practicing physicians and learners; an academic department can follow research and teaching discussions; a practice supplier can hear from clinicians within the same professional community. That overlap is the reason to choose FMF when Canada's family-medicine institutions matter to the visit.

FMF is the right trip for clinicians and organizations whose work depends on Canada's family physicians, training programs and professional networks.

Who exhibits

FMF's hall mixes practice technology and pharmaceuticals with medical education, recruitment and health organizations. Last year's exhibitors included TELUS Health, Novo Nordisk Canada and Nova Scotia Health, illustrating how clinical products, digital practice tools and physician careers share the floor. Academic programs and associations add another layer beyond commercial suppliers. College Square brings the CFPC's own services and provincial Chapters into that mix, giving visitors a place to discuss their professional development alongside their practice needs.

Family Medicine Forum - FMF 2026

FMF 2026 returns to Toronto with more than 150 educational sessions and a program certified for up to 75 Mainpro+ credits. Andrew Boozary addresses poverty and primary care, Aisha Lofters examines equity in screening, and Sarah McVanel discusses recognition and team well-being. These themes connect clinical work with the social conditions and workplace pressures family physicians encounter. The social program also takes participants beyond the convention center, with TOGETHER at The Carlu and the Awards Gala at Hotel X.

  • Use College Square for conversations with provincial Chapters, academic family medicine and CPD services; these contacts serve different needs from the commercial booths.
  • Distinguish the Exhibit Hall's Non-Certified Main Stage from the certified education program when choosing sessions for Mainpro+ credit.
  • For research and teaching contacts, TOGETHER brings learners, teachers and researchers together at The Carlu, separate from the Hotel X Awards Gala.

Exhibiting

FMF sells booth packages with guide and app listings, draped walls and exhibitor badges. The hall's food service and dedicated breaks create repeated contact with the clinical audience. Technology demonstrations, recruitment and resources for family practice fit that setting. Furnishings, staff lunches, lead retrieval and some services require separate orders; company descriptions, insurance and supplier submissions have their own deadlines. Main Stage sponsorship provides a non-certified presentation opportunity.
