How it compares

Interzoo in Nuremberg, held every two years in May, is where Western brands meet European and global retail buyers. Pet Fair Asia is the annual trip for companies whose business runs through China, whether they sell into its consumer market or buy from its factories.

Inside China, the comparison is with China International Pet Show (CIPS) in Guangzhou each November, which has a large aquarium and aquatics side and sits next to the southern manufacturing belt. Pet Fair Asia is bigger and goes further into the domestic market, with Chinese consumer brands, retail channel programs and two days of direct contact with pet owners.

The same organizer runs regional shows for narrower goals. Pet Fair Beijing in March, with more than 1,500 exhibitors in 2026, serves distributors and pet shops in the north, and Pet Fair South China in Guangzhou each December covers the Greater Bay Area. Pet Fair South-East Asia in Bangkok each October is trade-only, with 447 exhibitors in 2025, and suits buyers looking at Thai pet food production and Southeast Asian distribution. For the Japanese market specifically, Interpets Tokyo is the better fit.

Pet Fair Asia is the trip for brands, distributors and sourcing teams who need to see the whole Chinese pet industry, from contract factories to the brands Chinese owners buy, in one place.

Who exhibits

Chinese brands such as PETKIT, Pidan, Gambol and Nourse share the floor with the China operations of Mars, Nestlé Purina, Royal Canin, Boehringer Ingelheim and Elanco. International exhibitors are grouped in the Global Premier Hall, where national pavilions from New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Poland, Canada and Thailand sit together. Contract manufacturers, packaging suppliers and machinery makers fill the separate PET FAIR SUPPLY halls, and veterinary companies have two halls of their own.

Pet Fair Asia 2027

The 29th Pet Fair Asia keeps the format of recent years, with three trade days followed by two consumer days. The 2026 show added an invitation-only VIP B2B Day for Chinese importers, distributors and invited buyers on the opening day, while registered international visitors could attend all three trade days. It also launched EcoPaws Asia, a sustainability showcase run with the Pet Sustainability Coalition, and a showcase of more than 100 products launched for the first time at the fair.

Before the August fair, the organizer opens Pet Fair Asia Boutique in April 2027 at Shanghai's West Bund Dome, a smaller event for premium and crossover pet brands.

• In 2026 the opening day was invitation-only for Chinese visitors but open to registered international visitors, which made it the calmest day for supplier meetings.
• Keep business meetings to the trade days. The two consumer days drew more than 400,000 pet owners in 2026 and the halls are crowded.
• International brands and country pavilions were grouped in hall N5 in 2026, and PET FAIR SUPPLY used its own block of halls (W6 to W11 and N6 to N9) and ran only on the three trade days, so sourcing teams should set aside time for it early in the week.
• Visitors who also work in livestock feed or animal health can combine the trip with VIV Select China, which ran alongside the 2026 show at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center with free shuttles between the two venues.

Exhibiting

Space sells out: in 2026 most of the floor was booked four months before opening and the show was full by early July. International companies usually exhibit inside a national pavilion in the Global Premier Hall, which in 2026 held groups from nine countries and regions. The fair pays off most for brands that want Chinese distributors and direct exposure to consumers at the same event.
