Its 2026 show in Kuala Lumpur drew close to 21,000 attendees from more than 65 countries and regions, alongside more than 700 exhibiting companies. Assembly, test and packaging remain central, while IC design, advanced packaging and intelligent manufacturing are broadening the discussion. Equipment makers, materials suppliers, manufacturers and policymakers share the same exhibition and conference setting.
The technical program connects that supplier base with decisions inside factories. Recent summits have addressed chiplets, silicon photonics, co-packaged optics and the energy and water demands of semiconductor production. A SEMI and Sandisk manufacturing showcase put AI, automation and human-machine collaboration into a production context. Workforce activities and MIDA forums add Malaysian talent development and local supplier capability to the mix. This is a regional manufacturing meeting with international participation, particularly relevant to businesses working across Southeast Asia's factories and supply chains.
How it compares
- SEMICON ChinaShanghai, 50K
- This show: SEMICON Southeast AsiaKuala Lumpur
- SEMICON TaiwanTaipei, 130K
The strongest reason to choose Kuala Lumpur is access to Southeast Asia's production relationships. Test systems, packaging equipment, process materials and factory automation sit alongside discussions about local suppliers, workforce capability and manufacturing investment. Companies selling into Malaysian and neighboring operations can connect technical conversations with the people and institutions building those capabilities.
SEMICON Taiwan brings a different center of gravity. Taipei's 2026 show attracted more than 130,000 professionals and more than 1,300 exhibitors. Advanced process technology, chiplets, silicon photonics and smart fabs feature prominently, with a dense ecosystem spanning IC design, wafer fabrication, packaging, substrates and electronics manufacturing. It is a stronger choice when Taiwanese manufacturing relationships and the development of advanced semiconductor technology are the main priorities.
SEMICON China places suppliers in Shanghai's semiconductor market. Chip design, fabrication, assembly and test, equipment and materials form its core, with display and photovoltaic businesses in the adjoining event mix. Choose it when Chinese customers and manufacturing partners drive the trip. SEMICON Southeast Asia is the more direct comparison for regional production support, assembly and test operations, and suppliers developing business across Southeast Asia. The shared SEMICON name connects the events, but the production ecosystems give each a distinct purpose.
SEMICON Southeast Asia is the right trip for equipment, materials and packaging suppliers building relationships with Southeast Asian semiconductor manufacturers.
Who exhibits
Advantest's test systems and ASE Malaysia's assembly and test services anchor the production end of the mix. Boschman adds molding, encapsulation and advanced packaging equipment, while Bestac supplies polishing materials. Akros brings adhesives, resins, thermal materials and process chemicals. Beijing CGB contributes cleaning and cutting equipment. Together, these exhibitors make the show useful for comparing specific factory processes, from wafer preparation through package assembly and final test, with both equipment builders and local service operations in view.

SEMICON Southeast Asia 2027
SEMICON Southeast Asia 2027 returns to MITEC in Kuala Lumpur under the Transform Tomorrow theme. Its exhibitor mix already includes Advantest, ASE Malaysia, Boschman and suppliers of polishing, thermal and packaging materials. The return keeps the event close to Malaysia's assembly, test and manufacturing base while maintaining an international equipment and materials presence. The central question for this year's trip is how those suppliers can support more capable production, advanced packaging and the region's growing semiconductor ecosystem.
- For production test, compare Advantest's equipment with ASE Malaysia's assembly and test services: they address different parts of the same manufacturing decision.
- For package reliability and thermal performance, connect Boschman's molding and packaging equipment with Akros's resins, adhesives and thermal materials, then use Bestac for wafer polishing requirements.
