That concentration explains the conference's place in the Texas education market: it brings the people who govern districts together with the administrators who run them. TASA and TASB have jointly organized the gathering since 1960, and the program remains centered on public-school leadership, governance and the relationship between boards and superintendents.

The exhibit hall reaches well beyond classroom technology. School architects, roofing contractors, security providers, bus suppliers, purchasing cooperatives and financial advisers share the floor with curriculum and communications companies. The Exhibit of School Architecture gives facilities discussions a practical reference point through new and renovated Texas schools. Student art and district performances keep the schools themselves visible alongside the commercial displays. For a leadership team, the attraction is the combination of board development and a broad view of the suppliers serving Texas districts.

How it compares

  2. NSBA Annual ConferenceWashington, 7,000

TASBO Engage Conference is the closer alternative for a district's business office. Its audience includes CFOs, accounting staff, procurement and operations specialists, transportation leaders and food service directors. The 2026 gathering in Grapevine brought together more than 4,000 attendees and exhibitors. Its February conference is especially useful when the conversation needs to reach the people implementing a budget, purchasing system or operating process. txEDCON puts the same school market in front of the board and superintendent partnership, where governance, district priorities and leadership carry more weight.

For a broader view of school-board practice, NSBA Annual Conference draws education leaders from across the United States. Its April program covers governance, student learning and education technology, making it a useful choice for comparing approaches beyond Texas or building a national supplier presence. txEDCON's advantage is concentration in one state's public-school community: the associations, district leaders and suppliers share the same operating context. An architect, safety provider or district services company looking for Texas leadership relationships has a different reason to attend than a software business seeking a national launch. The choice turns on which district roles and geographic market need to be in the conversation.

txEDCON suits Texas school leadership teams and suppliers whose work needs the board and superintendent in the same conversation.

Who exhibits

WRA Architects and HKS sit alongside facilities suppliers such as GAF Materials and Patcraft, showing how much of the hall concerns the physical school estate. Daktronics adds athletics and campus displays; Highland Electric Fleets brings transportation into the mix. ZeroEyes, Evolv Technology and Raptor Technologies represent school safety, while Apptegy and Magma Math cover communications and learning. This is a district-wide supplier floor, with capital projects and operational services as visible as classroom products.

txEDCON 2026

The Houston conference has a sold-out exhibit hall, with Inky Johnson and George Couros as the main program speakers. Lamar CISD and Friendswood ISD bring student performances into the general sessions. The closing conversations focus on the Texas Honor Board and Superintendent of the Year, connecting the awards to the leadership practices behind them. Exhibitors also have revised badge allowances and table-and-chair packages. The school architecture display and student art remain part of the hall's mix.

  • Pair the Exhibit of School Architecture with conversations at WRA Architects or HKS to connect the displayed school projects with design choices for your own district.
  • If your district has 999 or fewer students, make the Small School District Seminar part of your learning plan; it concentrates on the advantages and needs of smaller systems.
  • Use the closing conversations with the Texas Honor Board and Superintendent of the Year to explore how effective governance teams work together.

Exhibiting

The hall is sold out. The next opportunity is the organizer's txEDCON 2027 interest list, which gives applicants priority when public booth sales open. The package range accommodates classroom suppliers, larger facilities displays and school buses. Tables and chairs are included in the revised smaller booth packages; carpet, electricity and other furnishings are ordered separately. Exhibiting suits companies selling to Texas districts whose offer benefits from a board-level or superintendent-level discussion.
