The 2026 conference drew 12,200 registrants from 84 countries and regions, with 118 exhibitors. Its audience spans university researchers, students, industrial research labs and engineers working on perception, autonomous driving and embodied AI. The technical program is the main attraction; the expo adds a place to see how that work becomes software, compute infrastructure, data services and intelligent systems.

The conference combines peer-reviewed papers with workshops, tutorials, demonstrations and an industry exhibition. Posters matter here because they put visitors in direct conversation with the people behind the methods. The 2027 research agenda reaches beyond image recognition into physical AI, world models, vision-language-action systems, agentic AI and the safety of generated images and video. For companies, the opportunity is closely tied to technical credibility, research partnerships and recruitment. The audience is particularly useful when a product needs to win over the engineers who will evaluate it.

How it compares

  1. This show: CVPR 202712K
  2. European Conference on Computer VisionMalmö, every two years
  3. International Conference on Computer VisionHong Kong, every two years

The closest alternatives are International Conference on Computer Vision and European Conference on Computer Vision. All serve the specialist computer vision research community, so the choice depends on the research calendar, collaborators and geography as much as the topic. CVPR supplies an annual meeting point and a substantial industry exhibition alongside the paper program.

ICCV runs every other year. Its 2027 meeting in Hong Kong creates an alternative for teams whose partnerships and research network are concentrated in Asia. It belongs to the same research circuit as CVPR, making it a useful second destination for maintaining contact with computer vision laboratories and comparing new work later in the year.

ECCV is held in Europe on even years, with its 2026 meeting in Malmö combining computer vision and machine learning research with an expo. It can make better use of a European team’s travel budget when the priority is academic collaboration or regional recruiting. CVPR is the stronger fit when the annual research cycle and contact with the commercial computer vision ecosystem are central to the trip. Its exhibition is especially relevant to AI infrastructure, developer tools and perception systems.

CVPR is the right trip for teams that need to understand new computer vision research and meet the people turning it into products.

Who exhibits

The 2026 floor put Google, NVIDIA and Waymo alongside OpenCV, data suppliers and AI tooling companies. That combination makes the exhibition useful for comparing the infrastructure behind perception systems, from training data and model development to compute and autonomous driving. The research audience also gives recruiting and technical demonstrations a prominent role. A booth conversation is likely to concern methods, benchmarks and implementation choices, so exhibitors need people who can discuss the technology in detail.

CVPR 2027

CVPR 2027 returns to Seattle with a research agenda that explicitly includes physical AI, agentic AI and generative AI safety. Workshops are being organized into subject tracks so that related events can coordinate their content and speakers. New workshop policies also limit how many organizing committees an individual may join and how many submissions can list the same author. These changes place more emphasis on coherent specialist communities around the main conference, while retaining the broad scope of computer vision research.

  • Read the accepted papers before the trip: CVF releases them ahead of the conference, making it easier to use poster discussions for specific technical questions.
  • If your work centers on vision-language-action systems or embodied agents, look beyond recognition sessions to the foundation models and embodied vision workshop tracks.
  • Choose workshops for extended discussion of a narrow research problem; use the main paper program to compare approaches across the broader field.
