The 2025 show drew more than 10,300 visitors and more than 290 exhibitors from 16 countries. Its audience spans railway managers, engineers, infrastructure authorities and public-sector stakeholders, putting equipment procurement alongside the investment decisions that shape Italian networks.
The technical scope reaches from complete passenger and freight vehicles to signaling, electrification, workshop equipment and specialized components. That breadth gives a supplier of connectors, diagnostics or maintenance machinery a place alongside train builders and track contractors. The show’s development also reflects the overlap between railway engineering and other industries: its 2025 Innovation Hub, Aerospace Technology Hub and Tunneling Area brought startup technology, aerospace expertise and underground infrastructure into the same conversation. Digitalization, predictive maintenance and the energy transition run through its conference program.
How it compares
- SIFERLille, every two years
- InnoTransBerlin, every two years
- This show: EXPO Ferroviaria 2027Milan, every two years
For a company building its Italian railway business, EXPO Ferroviaria offers a concentrated meeting point between operators, infrastructure managers and the suppliers that serve them. The presence of Italian industry associations and railway institutions makes the show relevant to both technical sourcing and understanding the market around a project. Its scale allows visitors to compare rolling stock, infrastructure and specialist components without leaving the rail sector.
SIFER in Lille serves a similar purpose for the French market. It combines rail technology with conferences, workshops and B2B meetings, and welcomed 400 exhibitors and 7,400 participants in 2025. Suppliers choosing between Lille and Milan should put the country where they need customers, distributors or project partners ahead of the overlap in product categories.
InnoTrans in Berlin is the broader international benchmark. Its 2026 show brought together 3,190 exhibitors and 175,591 visitors across rail technology, public transport, interiors and tunnel construction, with full-size vehicles on the outdoor tracks. Berlin suits a global product comparison or international launch. Milan gives Italian procurement and industrial relationships more prominence within a smaller specialist gathering. The choice turns on whether the task is surveying the worldwide transport market or developing business within Italy’s railway ecosystem.
EXPO Ferroviaria is the right trip for railway suppliers and technical buyers whose next project depends on Italian operators, infrastructure managers or industrial partners.
Who exhibits
The 2025 lineup combined ABB, Alstom, Hitachi Rail and Wabtec with railway specialists such as Lucchini RS, MER MEC and Salcef Group. CAF and Škoda Group were among the newcomers. This mix connects train building with traction, signaling, wheels, infrastructure and fleet maintenance, while component suppliers and engineering businesses give the floor more depth than a display of complete vehicles alone. It is particularly useful for visitors comparing how a system will be built, integrated and maintained in the Italian market.

EXPO Ferroviaria 2027
EXPO Ferroviaria 2027 returns to Fiera Milano Rho with Halls 13 and 15 assigned for the next show. It follows a 2025 gathering that expanded the conversation beyond traditional railway equipment through startup, aerospace and tunneling areas. The last show also brought digital automatic coupling, a hydrogen locomotive prototype and Alstom’s Coradia Stream regional train to the Fiorenza Trenord outdoor display. Those demonstrations explain the show’s direction: railway technology is increasingly presented through working vehicles, infrastructure applications and cooperation across industrial disciplines.
- For Italian network projects, combine the infrastructure suppliers with the railway associations and institutional participants; the show brings technical equipment and the Italian project environment together.
- A fleet maintenance visit should include workshop equipment, diagnostics and specialist components alongside train builders; all are part of EXPO Ferroviaria’s stated product scope.
- Teams assessing aerospace applications for rail should include that cross-sector strand alongside the conventional rolling stock suppliers. The Aerospace Technology Hub was part of the 2025 show.
