In 2026 it drew 33,476 trade visitors from 28 countries and regions, with 151 exhibitors and a 38% international exhibitor share. That combination makes it useful both for suppliers entering Japan and for designers comparing Japanese approaches with products from abroad.

The fair began in 2022 as a satellite of Cologne’s ORGATEC. Its scope now extends from seating and office planning to lighting, acoustics, textiles and the materials behind finished interiors. The co-located interzum showcase tokyo adds components and surfaces, bringing furniture makers into contact with their suppliers. Design is central to the format: the awards recognize how companies turn products and ideas into complete spaces. The 2026 program also brought circular materials, repair and reuse into the workplace discussion through Circular MIRAI.

How it compares

  1. NeoConChicago, 55K
  2. This show: ORGATEC Tokyo 202726K
  3. ORGATECCologne, every two years

ORGATEC in Cologne is the larger international sourcing trip for workspace and contract interiors. Its 2024 show brought together 729 exhibitors from 40 countries. Office planning, media technology, furnishings and facility management sit within a broad program for buyers and specifiers. Tokyo offers a more concentrated view of Japanese manufacturers and the Asian workplace market, with an annual rhythm between Cologne’s biennial shows.

NeoCon in Chicago is the stronger choice when the project pipeline is North American. Permanent showrooms at The Mart, temporary exhibits and an extensive education program put commercial interior specification at the center of the visit. Tokyo’s fair format brings domestic office manufacturers and international brands together with an explicit emphasis on spatial design and the experience of work.

The interzum showcase within Tokyo gives materials and component suppliers direct contact with office furniture manufacturers. Buyers seeking seating, acoustic privacy, light and surfaces for Japanese projects can compare these layers within the same fair. For a supplier, the decision therefore turns on the market it needs to reach: Japan and neighboring Asian design networks, the wider international contract market in Cologne, or the commercial design community in Chicago.

ORGATEC Tokyo is the right trip for workplace designers and suppliers who need to understand Japanese office furniture and connect it with international materials and design.

Who exhibits

The 2026 mix combined KOKUYO, ITOKI and OKAMURA with international furniture and specialist suppliers. DeVorm and Karimoku Furniture appeared among the design award winners, while Panasonic Electric Works and ARTWORKSTUDIO brought lighting into the workplace discussion. The variety matters: a visitor can examine the office as a complete interior, from furniture and acoustic products to finishes and components. interzum showcase tokyo makes the supply chain behind those interiors part of the same conversation.

ORGATEC Tokyo 2027

ORGATEC Tokyo 2027 takes up “Think Human, Think Design.” The theme carries the fair’s attention beyond office products toward the people and everyday lives that spaces serve. interzum showcase tokyo remains part of the offer, connecting workplace design with furniture materials and components. The 2026 show established a strong precedent for that approach: OKAMURA won the Grand Prize, Circular MIRAI examined circular design, and ORGATEC NIGHT extended the conversation into the evening.

  • Use interzum showcase tokyo to compare the materials and components behind the finished furniture elsewhere on the floor; it is particularly useful for manufacturers and designers developing a product.
  • For a lighting or acoustic brief, compare the specialist suppliers with the complete interiors presented by the Japanese office manufacturers. Tokyo’s program treats light, sound and furniture as parts of one workplace.

Exhibiting

Applications go through the Koelnmesse organizing office and include Special and General Conditions of Participation. The fair suits office furniture brands, lighting and acoustic specialists, and suppliers of materials or components through interzum showcase tokyo. A stand needs to communicate a spatial idea as well as display products: the ORGATEC Tokyo Awards put that design work in front of the industry.
