The fair brought together about 630 exhibitors from 29 countries and regions and 21,590 trade visitors. For overseas producers, that makes it a meeting point for mainland Chinese importers and regional distributors as well as Shanghai's restaurant, hotel and retail buyers.

National and regional pavilions are central to the show, but the mix increasingly includes China's own wineries. Last year, 93 domestic wineries participated, alongside a strong international contingent. The commercial conversation is also broadening beyond conventional wine distribution: bistros, e-commerce and instant retail are gaining visibility. Co-location with FHC brings food and hospitality procurement into the same venue, while masterclasses give buyers a way to explore unfamiliar regions and styles. Shanghai suits a producer building a Chinese distribution network or a buyer comparing imported wines with a growing domestic selection.

How it compares

  1. Vinexpo AsiaHong Kong, 11K
  2. This show: ProWine Shanghai

Vinexpo Asia is the more natural comparison for an exporter whose territory covers several Asian markets. Its Hong Kong event combines regional sourcing with structured business appointments and an education program. It welcomed 14,273 trade participants in 2026. Shanghai's distinction is the depth of its mainland Chinese buyer network, developed through regional roadshows and relationships with importers, distributors and hospitality operators. The choice turns on where the next distribution partner needs to be based.

For a global portfolio review, ProWein in Düsseldorf offers a much larger supplier pool. In 2026 it brought together 3,400 exhibitors from 63 countries. Its spring calendar suits international sourcing and export conversations across many destinations; Shanghai puts the same wine and spirits business into the context of Chinese channels and buying habits. A producer can use both trips for different commercial purposes.

FHC - Food & Hospitality China is the adjacent opportunity for companies selling into restaurant groups, hotels and food retail. Its food and hospitality remit makes it particularly relevant when wine is part of a broader purchasing brief. ProWine's dedicated wine and spirits environment remains the place for deeper comparisons between regions, producers and import portfolios; the concurrent fairs make those conversations easier to connect with dining and retail applications.

ProWine Shanghai is the right trip for wine and spirits businesses building mainland Chinese distribution, especially beyond Shanghai's own hospitality market.

Who exhibits

The lineup combines export agencies and national pavilions with individual wineries, importers and service providers. Constellation Brands and Chateau Montelena sit within the California presence; Reh Kendermann and Klumpp Winery show the range of German supply. CACO Winery adds Albanian wine, while Sena Spirits brings Serbian spirits. Business France, Advantage Austria and Wine Australia anchor collective participation. DACHSER Far East's logistics offering reinforces the practical import and distribution focus alongside the tastings.

ProWine Shanghai 2026

ProWine Shanghai 2026 expands its regional variety with first-time pavilion participation from Albania, the Andong Soju Association, the Korean Traditional Liquor Export Association and Spain's D.O. Yecla. Wines of Moldova returns, as do the Champagne Lounge and Dragon Phoenix Wine Consulting's masterclasses. The buyer-development program has also reached Dandong, Yangjiang, Pingtan and Zhangjiajie for the first time. Continuing co-location with FHC keeps restaurant, hotel and food retail channels close to the wine and spirits floor.

  • Use the ProWine Shanghai WeChat mini program for forum and masterclass bookings.
  • Compare the German pavilion in W5 with New Zealand Winegrowers in W4 when sourcing Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc; the latter also presents low-alcohol and alternative styles.
  • Include FHC in a hospitality sourcing visit when the purchasing brief also covers food or wine-pairing snacks.

Exhibiting

Exhibitors can choose bare space, a fitted Walk-On Stand or a Premium Stand. Bare space suits national groups and producers bringing their own stand; the fitted packages include tasting furniture and a store room. The contract separates additional services and applicable taxes from the stand charge and sets a staged payment schedule. National and regional pavilion participation provides another route for producers seeking a collective presence in China's import market.
